After an initial heartbreak, Mercedes was able to get the Lee Middleton doll that I wrote about last Tuesday.

First thing this morning Michelle and the girls went to Roxanne’s Doll Shoppe. Sadly, they were told that the store sold out of all of their Lee Middleton dolls immediately after the store closing was announced on July 1st! Mercedes was understandably crushed and broke down right in the store. They weren’t even able to order a doll for her. The owner suggested a store in Kohler, Wisconsin, but that was a bit much to drive after the long days we’ve had recently in the U.P.

Once they returned home, Michelle got online and found out that there was also a store in De Pere. They weren’t quite as big as the Kohler store and we weren’t able to get the “adoption papers” that you can get with them, but Mercedes didn’t mind. She picked a little boy and named him Alan Ray Reynolds, dressed him, coddled him, and even gave him a nickname: “Slugger”.

Mom didn’t help matters by getting out baby clothes and telling them about the baby car seat… but it’s cute. I’m drawing the line at the car seat getting put in my car, though!
