The Sunday morning radio news brought word of the possibility that Osama bin Laden’s capture may be imminent.
Having picked on the same news, Power Line opines that something’s not quite right about the administration’s attitude about bin Laden:
To all appearances, they are content to leave him in peace somewhere in eastern Afghanistan. It may be that bin Laden has been dead for a long time, and they know it. It may be that his communications are being intercepted, so that he is more valuable at liberty than he would be in captivity. But I do hope he is captured or killed between now and November, assuming he is still alive, because it will be so much fun to listen to the squeals of outrage from the Democrats.
Given that the average attention span of the voting public seems to be on the order of a week or two, though, I propose that we schedule his capture on October 25th (or maybe the 26th). Otherwise, the campaign risks the possibility of people forgetting what it was that made them want to vote for Bush in the first place.
